A-State Faculty-Led: Global Leadership through Service in Senegal

This study abroad opportunity integrates academic objectives with service experiences to foster student learning, personal and social growth, and civic responsibility in Senegal Africa.  It is a comprehensive program including Service Learning, local study trips, diverse cultural activities and an opportunity to immerse into the Senegalese culture. Through exploration and analysis, the students will address a community need in partnership with the residents and execute a service-learning project. The class primarily takes place in Dakar, the capital city of Senegal. The program includes field trips to:the slave house on Goree Island; Joal-Fadhiout, Somone; and many more cultural activities. .The program also allows students to enjoy a greater experience beyond the classroom through facilitated engagement with local communities.
