About

Live, Learn, and Lead in Dakar, Senegal

Spend a semester or academic year in Dakar, Senegal’s vibrant coastal capital—where tradition meets innovation, and the classroom extends far beyond the campus walls. Ideal for students interested in Business, STEM, Humanities, Social Sciences, or Political Science, this program offers a customizable academic and cultural experience in the heart of Francophone West Africa.

📚 Academics
Earn 16 U.S. credits through direct enrollment at Institut Supérieur de Management (ISM)—Senegal’s top private university. Choose courses from the School of Management, School of Engineering, and Madiba Leadership Institute, with classes available in English or French.
In addition to ISM courses, take in-house seminars taught by professors from ISM and Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in subjects like Anthropology, Intercultural Studies, and Wolof Language & Culture.
Whether you're fluent or just beginning, weekly French tutoring supports your language growth and academic success.

Pro tip: ISM’s Entrepreneurship Week lets you pause classes to engage in real-world innovation and service projects with local organizations.

🌍 Cultural Immersion
Connect deeply with Senegalese life through curated activities, excursions, and weekly language sessions:

  • Weekend trips to Sine Saloum Delta (Fall) or Saint-Louis (Spring)

  • A day trip to Gorée Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

  • Monthly arts events: concerts, dance, film, theater

  • Weekly Wolof language practice to deepen local engagement

🏠 Housing Options
Choose the living style that fits your comfort and goals:

  • Homestay: Live with a welcoming Senegalese family (includes meals + laundry)

  • Independent housing: Enjoy more autonomy in a private room within a family compound — great for students seeking independence with cultural connection and security.

🤝 Exceptional Support
From day one, you'll feel supported by APA's experienced team:

  • Pre-departure advising and visa support

  • Airport pickup and orientation stay upon arrival

  • Personalized housing placement

  • Connection with local student peers

  • On-site staff to assist with academics, health, safety, and daily logistics

💡 Who Should Apply?
The ideal APA student is bright, curious, and open to exploring the world from a new perspective. Courses in English make this program accessible, while French language support helps students grow at their own pace.

Beginner French speakers planning to take classes in English are excellent candidates.

💰 Program Cost
From $12,500 per semester — includes tuition, housing, meals (homestay), excursions, language support, and full program support.
