I learned to take advantage of every opportunity presented to me. You never know where something will lead, so go to that cafe, meet up with that friend, or see that museum exhibit. About

Available for study abroad/gap year/leave of absence:

Improve your French, take unique courses in nearly any field of study, and learn lifelong skills coveted by employers. APA's Paris program is an approachable direct-enroll hybrid that provides course flexibility, no matter if you have taken three or four semesters of French or if you grew up a native speaker.

Based on your language level, which will be evaluated during the pre-departure period, build your schedule by choosing four courses, in any field of study. Sit in on up to ten courses during on-site orientation thanks to a unique course shopping week, then only register for those you wish to follow for the semester .

B1-level speakers will build their schedules from the following:

  • Intensive French Language (mandatory)

  • Courses at our 11 University of Paris and higher education partner institutions (taught in French or English)

  • APA in-house electives:

    • France Today (both semesters)

    • 19th Century French Painting & Sculpture (fall semester)

    • 20th Century French Painting & Sculpture (spring semester)

B2-level and up speakers will build their schedules from the following:

  • Courses at our 11 University of Paris and higher education partner institutions (taught in French)

  • APA in-house electives:

    • Laïcité and Diversity in Contemporary France

    • From Neoclassicsm to Symbolism (1800 - 1900) (fall semester; includes weekend study tour to London)

    • From Fauvism to the Contemporary Period (1900 - 1970) (spring semester; includes weekend study tour to Barcelona)

  • Replace a class with an independent study/research.

Receive weekly one-on-one language help with one of our professors and teaching assistants. Ongoing, personal academic support is also organized by our APA Paris team.

Experience French culture with weekly events and tickets to the performing arts, exclusive day and weekend excursions, and more. Students live with carefully selected French hosts or student residences to facilitate a truly immersive experience and many opportunities are available to be involved in the community through volunteering, sports, music, and more.

Consider extending your stay with a two month, full-time professional internship during the summer. Placements are made in all fields.
