Adelante: Edinburgh - Equine Summer Program in Scotland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to be more independent and make new friends.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The dorms I stayed in were pretty nice. It was nothing fancy but it didn't need to be because we were always out and about anyways. It was nice that we each got a sink in our room.

* Food:

I thought a lot of the food on campus was bland. Some meals were pretty good but it could improve.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

All the staff at the college were very willing to help and they really cared about us.

* Safety:

The campus is very safe but the towns outside of that can be a bit different. We had some encounters with creepy men but if you are in a group at all times you are safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

It was a great experience.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

If you want to go out to eat some nights the food can add up and get expensive but I think it is worth it. We were not provided food Friday evening and the weekends so you will need to get your own food then.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Maybe around $150 each week

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
