What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned more French. I made new friends. I learned more about another country and how it compares to my own. It was a worthwhile experience.

It's difficult to interact with people other than store/ restaurant workers when you need to.

I didn't really ever feel in danger.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I was there to learn French. I also love the warm atmosphere.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Cannes is expensive. I was expecting that though.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? As I cooked for myself i probably spent about 50 euro every week on food. And 10 to 20 euro on other expenses each weekend.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Continue to remind yourself how long you have to life off of the money that you have. Sometimes going to less expensive restaurants or walking instead of taking the bus can save you a lot in the long run.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Watch movies and read books in that language. Find someone else to speak the language with.

  • "Family meals" every once in awhile where the people in program cook and eat together.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That I don't suck at French. I just needed time to really focus on learning the language.
