Ah, The Life of Cannes! Past Review

AIFS: Cannes - Campus International de Cannes
ABSOLUTELY worth it. Five stars because I made lifelong friends with memories that I will never forget. Studying abroad made me realize how much I want to travel and see the rest of the world.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The teachers at the Collége International de Cannes are wonderful! You have several different professors as your language abilities increase and I honestly loved each one of mine. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Aude and Sandrine go above and beyond making everyone feel welcomed and aiding each student with settling into their new home. We referred to them as our french mothers. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I would recommend bringing a pillow. Sheets and blankets are provided and they are pretty nice. Ladies, bring one or two pairs of good heels (that go with everything) and a hoodie! It can get chilly at night. |
* Food: |
Many people complained about the food, but going into this program you have to realize that the food in France is MUCH different than American food. Appreciate what you're given (and suck it up if you don't like it! the staff works HARD!) |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Working the Amfar event and the Cannes Film Festival were the highlights of my trip. Also, the carnival in Nice was brilliant. Go. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Just be wary of men while you're out. If you drink, don't let your glass out of your sight. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
|
Language acquisition improvement? |
Most people at the Collége spoke english. Your teachers made you speak French ALL THE TIME in class. Outside of the college, many locals spoke english but if your french was decent they'd speak to you in french. |

|
* What could be improved? |

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | My words of wisdom would be "keep an open mind." Let the program and experience better you as a person and become aware of how different the cultures are, embrace that difference. |
