That's Limerick Citayy! a.k.a. the best time of my life. Past Review
By Megan M (Political science, Bradley University) for
AIFS: Limerick - University of Limerick
I made lifelong friends, and have memories that will last forever. I only regret that I had the best time of my life at the age of 21, so I guess it's all downhill from here?

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Why I gave it 4 instead of 5? It was a weird adjustment for me, personally, switching from a medium-sized school to such a large school. The switch to large lecture halls was difficult, but I had an overall positive learning experience. The teachers were very passionate about their subject-areas, and I especially loved my class on Irish Politics which coincided with the Irish elections. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
AIFS had amazing support on campus. One of my housemates had an emergency, and I thought they handled it very well. Elaine was our contact person, and she was amazing! I always knew there was somebody to help me, if I needed anything! |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Lived in Plassey Village, housing village located on campus. It was a great place to live. We only encountered a few problems, but really good experience for the most part. |
* Food: |
Ireland is not known for its food. It was not bad, though. There are plenty of places to get food on campus, and our housing had a rather large kitchen with full cooking amenities. "Aldi," the grocery store nearby sold pretty cheap food. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Really great trips planned through AIFS. I would suggest attending all of them. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Had to take my roommate to the emergency room, they provided us a cab to and from the hospital, and told us exactly where to go. Very helpful. Safety: just like any city, you need to be smart and you'll be fine. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | I am a real "people person", and so I'd say my very favorite part of Ireland was the people I met, and their incredible sense of humor. It was so great to be in a place that embraced my sarcasm, and I didn't have to sensor myself constantly. If you like to meet new people, and experience different things, I couldn't recommend this program more! |
