Best semester ever! Past Review
By Caitlin K (psychology, Colorado State University) for
AIFS: Prague - Charles University
Absolutely. I gained so much knowledge on the way that other cultures function. I learned so much about myself. I have plans to travel much more in the future and continue learning more about the world.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Workload was fairly easy but I still felt that I learned a lot. I only had class three days a week and many of my classes were focused on Czech language, art and culture so I found all of them very interesting |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Helped arrange housing, transportation, visas, and was there to suggest cultural activities, take you to the doctor and help with anything at all that you needed |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
Mostly ate out. The Czech Republic is very inexpensive and I could eat 2 meals out a day without going over budget |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Ballet, opera, philharmonic orchestra, all attractions in Prague and trips to other countries were all very memorable. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Safety was great. Pickpocketing was the worst thing to worry about but really wasn't an issue if you were aware of your surroundings. I had insurance through my program which I used one time when I got strep throat. I had to pay for the visit out of pocket (was about $200 US) and then I was reimbursed later. My czech program director went with me to the doctor to translate and checked up on me to make sure I was taken care of. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
