Salzburg: A Month Aborad Past Review
By Erica M (Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Professions., University of North Dakota) for
AIFS: Salzburg - University of Salzburg
Yes. I would go back in a heartbeat. This was hands down the best decision I have ever made. I made so many new friendships and connections that I know will last a lifetime. I am glad I got to experience new culture and a new way of life in Europe.
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I felt that I received an adequate amount of homework for the types of classes I took and the level of those classes. The teaching methods were good-different than here, almost more laid back, but studying was still required. I felt that I learned more hands on than I do here in the US and was able to comprehend more things just by physically going to a museum or seeing certain festivals. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
We were able to go and see the supervisors and academic leaders whenever we needed to. It was a very short walk from our dorm and they were very helpful and accommodating. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Housing was great, I felt very safe there and met a lot of really interesting people. I had to buy my own food, but was able to rent cookware and such. |
* Food: |
The food was amazing there-I don't think there was one bad thing that I had. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Nightlife and tourist attractions were above and beyond. There was never a dull moment in Salzburg, and even for classes we took some really fun field trips. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Doctors were available to us whenever, we were shown where they were. Luckily, I had no safety or health related issues when I was there, but if I did, I know that I would have felt safe. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

Language
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
