Founded in 1729, the University of Havana is one of the oldest universities in the Americas. Over the last several decades, the school has developed a reputation for excellence, teaching Spanish language and culture to students visiting Cuba. Five levels of instruction are available and include cultural exchange activities with local students.
Students stay in tourist class hotels with a meal plan and internet access included. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this island nation as you explore Havana and the surrounding Cuban countryside. Sample local cuisine and listen to authentic Cuban music.
Activities such as guided walking tours, visits to museums and cultural landmarks and a trip to Las Terrazas Biosphere Reserve are included in the program. A three-day excursion to Playa Giron, Bay of Pigs and Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, may also be included for students to enjoy white sandy beaches and an immersion in Cuban history and culture.
This juncture in Cuban history provides a fascinating opportunity for students. Cuba is a nation of amazing spirit and the unique mix of Afro-Caribbean and Spanish colonial culture is evident in the lifestyle, art and architecture.
