Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The program is designed in a way that makes everything easy to get used to. Everyone was helpful when I needed help, and the workload is adequate-I get a balance between a decent amount of work and decent amount of sight-seeing and meeting people. Teaching methods are pretty American-students are encouraged to voice their opinion. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Help was very accessible. My Chinese roommate was very helpful as well, she would tell me a lot about Chinese culture. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The apartment complex is guarded 24/7 which makes me feel safe in it. There were conveniene stores and supermarkets literally everywhere which made life very easy. I had to buy some things, but I brought most of my stuff from home. My Chinese roommate treated me very warmly. |
* Food: |
I am not sure since I have no restrictions when it comes to food. Be prepared to feel sick if you are brave enough to try street food. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I went to Huang mountain, located in a province 6 hours away from Shanghai with my Professor and some other local Chinese students I met. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
It's pretty safe if you travel with friends. Just be careful of your wallet and other important personal items when going to places with lots of people. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|

Comments: | It was challenging but in a good way. I became good friends with the teacher and some of his students who sat-in the class. He was well-prepared and would encourage discussion-like classes. I participated more than at Brandeis. |
