What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed learning everything from my experience in Greece. It was definitely worth every second.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My teacher was always very nice, extremely helpful, and very happy to have a foreign exchange student in her class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Beautiful housing, wonderful balconies and great facilities. I loved the panini maker. :)

* Food:

Of course the food is always an awesome experience when you study abroad, and thankfully we got lots of chances to enjoy it.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Since I didn't know the language it was definitely difficult to feel integrated. However by the end of my trip I knew how to read certain things and how to navigate the metro and bus system for my area. I also learned a lot about the local attitudes and culture.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Learning about Greek history and culture
  • Having the freedom to explore on our own
  • Having a great relationship with my classmates and professors
* What could be improved?
  • It could be really cool to have an assigned Greek "mentor" in each class we took. I was lucky enough to make a friend but I was the only one in my group who did, and I'm sure the other students would have loved getting to hang out with their own Greek friends or mentors as well.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That trying to use the mailing system is much more difficult than in the States! And that having a watch or other timepiece is VERY helpful, as clocks are almost nowhere to be found.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.

Instruction Language: English
Comments: The teacher was very knowledgeable and prepared. We were assessed with 2 essay exams for the entire course, which was challenging and made me study very hard to learn the material. In class I participated about as much as I would have in my home institution.
Credit Transfer Issues: Yes, I never had my credits transferred. I still don't know what I made in the course.
