A life changing experience I’ll never forget January 15, 2025

By (International and Global Studies, Brandeis University) - abroad from 09/10/2024 to 12/14/2024 with

American College of Thessaloniki (ACT): Thessaloniki - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The two biggest things I learned were in regards to culture and politics. With culture, I gained great insight from people I spoke to around town, my professors and classmates. This included local phrases, different eating habits, and by the end I was laughing at jokes that only Greeks would understand. In terms of politics, my studies allowed me insight into Balkan and Greek politics and history that are often neglected in American studies.

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
