In addition to learning more Arabic, I learned a lot about the Gulf, which is not something I really knew much about before. I learned about a million little cultural nuances you can only learn on location. It was definitely a worthwhile experience. - Villanova University View Entire Review

I gained too much to type here! But I will say that it has given me a new appreciation for Middle Eastern - and in a broad sense, international - culture. Worthwhile? Absolutely. - United States Naval Academy View Entire Review

Students enrolled in the AMIDEAST Education Abroad Program in Muscat carry a 14 to 17 credit hour course load per semester. All students enroll in two to three Arabic and two or three other Area studies courses (depending on the student’s preference) from a variety of disciplines taught in English including economics, Media Arabic, Middle East and North African studies, political science, religious studies, and women's studies.

In addition to academic coursework, our students benefit from an on-site orientation, opportunity to live in an Omani student neighborhood, structured ways to meet local students, and organized excursions to exciting locations around Oman.

Students live in Muscat, which is situated along a natural harbor on the northern coast of Oman. Muscat has been an important trading post for much of its history, and due to the efforts of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, Muscat is currently a thriving multi-ethnic city with rapidly developing infrastructure. AMIDEAST students in Oman will experience this Omani culture first-hand as they wander between Muscat’s pristine white-walled buildings, marvel at its beautiful mosques, or watch fishermen pull in their daily haul from along greater Muscat's extended coastline.
