By gabrielle v (consulting, The College of William and Mary) for
API (Academic Programs International): Rome - John Cabot University
Yes very worthwhile. Gained a sense of independence and an appreciation for US. Learned how to travel light and on a budget and greater understanding of history and different cultures.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The workload was relatively easy however there was a lot of group work for my business classes and it was often difficult to meet in groups or be on the same page for certain projects. Overall I felt the reduced workload gave me more time to experience the country and travel. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Housing was excellent. Great location and apartment filled with Americans. heavy security and noise violations and fees though. |
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Favorite API events include cooking lessons (Florence) and thermal baths (Tuscany). Also, I really enjoyed the wine and food tastings. |
* Health Care:

|
* Safety: |
Safe if traveled in groups and always Taxis available. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Flights and trains are pretty expensive and include a lot of hidden fees and taxes. Also, even though many things for apartment provided, still needed to buy more. |
