What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about living independently in a country without having any knowledge of the Hungarian language. The language barrier did help me develop social skills (speaking, body language, etc.) I also made new friends with different backgrounds during the program, which is always amazing.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Excellent and challenging course (Mobile Software Development). Able to learn a lot in a relatively short amount of time.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Great and very helpful!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

No air-conditioning in the apartment which can be hot in the summer, but other than that everything is provided.

* Food:

Delicious and relatively cheap food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Hungarian people are indeed friendly!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Insurance (both local health one and international travel one) was provided and instructed clearly by the program.

* Safety:

Did not encounter any alarming situations. The city is relatively safe, but in crowded, touristy areas just stay alarmed as you should.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, because of both the incredibly helpful study abroad program (including great professor, staffs, and coursework) and the amazing European culture (cuisine, history, arts, etc.)

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Budapest is definitely a relatively cheap place to live, but expensive restaurants do exist.
