By Andrew O (Computer Science & History, Providence College) for

It's had a huge impact on me. I learned how to be thrust into a foreign city with no friends and make a life for myself. Multiple people have commented on how I have grown as a person.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The workload was very manageable, for my classes at least. The grading system somewhat varied between departments- in Physics for example it was fairly easy to get an A whereas it was very difficult to get an A in my History courses. Most of the class marks were earned in big papers and tests, but there were also smaller assignments. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Our hosts were wonderful! They were very knowledgeable of New Zealanad and had a lot of experience adjusting Americans to their country. They were always available if we need to talk or get any help. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
Amazing fresh food, though somewhat expensive. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We visited a Maori tourist village. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
very safe |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Things in New Zeland cost more, not only because the NZD is weaker than USD but also becuase many things need to be shipped in. |
