Absolutely worthwhile. Being on the outside looking in at the USA was an interesting and invaluable experience.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The lack of formative feedback was not to my liking. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The local leaders and events planned were enriching and enjoyable. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I was housed in an apartment building that housed students from a rival university. It would have been nice if linens had been provided as they are in other programs. Being housed with all Americans took away from the cultural aspect. The regulations of the building were strict and unreasonable. The housing was easily the worst aspect of studying abroad. |
* Food: |
Warn students how expensive food is. It was a shock adjusting prices that are quintuple what I'm used to paying. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Had a great time. Rotorua is especially entertaining. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Food and petrol is expensive. |
