Australia is Awesome! Past Review
By Lynne B (Neurobiology and Neurosciences., Trinity University) for

My study abroad experience was wonderful. I learned a lot about myself, how others view the United States as well as their own countries, and how to deal with problems on my own.

Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
difference in grading was a little strange, but if you work hard you do not have to worry about getting a good grade. the one downfall was that some classes have multiple teachers teach the class. this causes the class topics to either overlap or skip certain topics. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
great program; good, relatable, fun, and young advisors; good group trips; well organized |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
live on campus in a dorm if you can. it is a great way to get to know other students. the dorms offer many opportunities to get involved and meet new people. |
| * Food: |
quality of food was not very good. the food it typical cafeteria food. |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
the group trips were awesome. |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
| * Safety: |
you are about as safe or more so in Australia. there is little crime, no gang related issues, and generally good security |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $125--food was provided for. this amount is for dinners out, extra groceries, medicine, alcohol, shopping |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | australia is not a cheap country. generally, things are more expensive out there than the USA, especially alcohol and makeup |
Language
| How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |

A Look Back
| * What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | this is a great program for students who need classes taught in englis for their majors (science). this program is also good for people not looking for a place that is completely different from the United States but still different enough to be interesting. |
