a 4 month journey to understanding myself and how I interact with others Past Review
By A student (Occidental College) - abroad from 02/22/2016 to 06/23/2016 with
Arcadia: Dunedin - University of Otago
What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how much my environment had shaped who I am. Everywhere you go you take that with you and it can be a source of strength and confidence but also isolating and challenging. Overall it was worthwhile to take the time to leave my comfort zone to be a part of a different culture and college environment. I felt very independent and like I had a lot of time to really make my own choices.

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
