Adventures in Edinburgh: Never Forget Your Umbrella January 27, 2025
By A student (Anthropology, Brandeis University) - abroad from 08/08/2024 to 12/18/2024 with
Arcadia: Edinburgh - University of Edinburgh
I loved studying abroad. It was a chance to learn so much about another part of the world, and also about myself.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 2 weeks - 1 month |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Arcadia abroad staff were very helpful, Edinburgh was wonderful to explore, the academic rigor was a little lacking |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:

|
* Social & Cultural Integration:

|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I lived in a city, and so had city related safety issues. There was unfortunately a murder committed right outside on my street, but that seemed like an unfortunate incident than something the program could have avoided. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I had a lot of fun exploring a country I was always curious about, the destination to me was less important than the chance to explore somewhere completely new. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Courses while studying abroad are less useful than courses at your home university in terms of completing requirements, but I learned more about life and other people by studying abroad than I ever would have at home. |
