Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Much reading and independent research required |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Many resources and admin available. Can be very confusing who to speak to but definitely recommend taking initiative from the start! |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The people were super friendly and easy to live with, but conditions required almost weekly maintenance (although not the case for most other flats) |
* Food: |
Great pubs and take away places all over New Cross, also very affordable supermarkets |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
More integrated with international students than British locals |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Saw a GP once for a 2-week cold/throat issue I had and was very comfortable and felt professional |
* Safety: |
Felt very safe on and off campus |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
It had to be Goldsmiths/London because of the people I met there, because of what I learned about Visual Cultures and myself so that I can move forward personally and professionally |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Very easy during the first 2 months, but later spent more than anticipated (eating out/going out more, trying to enjoy the last couple weeks) |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Dollar store for cleaning products (paper towel, tissues, toilet paper, sponges, etc) Bring towels, bed linens, utensils, etc in your suitcase if you can Split the cost of pans, cups, etc with flatmates by sharing |
Language

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
