What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
A lot about international culture and truly living in a city that is a melting pot.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Kings College is not very involved in the study abroad students

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Paid for an expensive apartment since I heard dorm living was not great

* Food:

Food in London is good but requires spending a lot of money

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Made a lot of friends who live full time in London, which was nice

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Kings is a great college with nice facilities. The British system is very different, with less hand-holding and engagement in the classroom. I still feel like I learned a lot, however, and felt rewarded by the end of my time there.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Making international friends
  • Independence
* What could be improved?
  • Integration with other students at Kings
  • Integration with other American students studying abroad
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That it is very helpful knowing a few people beforehand, because I feel like it is harder to make friends in a London program than other programs, since the city is expansive and people are very independent.

The Networker
An active student leader, it was important for you to network abroad as well. Once overseas, you sought out student clubs, volunteered with local organizations, or attended community events. You encouraged your friends join you, and often considered how you could reflect your international experiences in a resume.
