London & LSE: Challenging Yet Rewarding Past Review
By Sarah M (Economics., Providence College) for

Yes, I found the experience to be worthwhile especially in terms of focusing my career and academic interests and honing the skills I will need to enter the field I am interested in.

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Workload was not significantly more than Providence, but the grading was much more difficult and the assignments expected work of a higher caliber. The main difference was the independence given to students on how they structured their studying and exam preparation. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Arcadia did a good job during their Orientation and updated consistently via email and were easily reached for questions. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
London provides a vast variety of foods, just be wary of the cost. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I mostly enjoyed the social atmosphere of life in London. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Pickpockets are a source of concern, although I was not (yet) a victim, friends of mine had items stolen. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Studying abroad is super expensive, bottom line. It was especially difficult to afford studying abroad for such a lengthy portion of time, and in Central London, where everything is ridiculously pricey. |
