What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about myself and what I actually like and don't like.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Having to write one to two 1500 word essays every week was somewhat tiring, however, since there are not a lot of lectures (and the few that there are, are optional) there is a lot of free time left. Thus the academic intensity is not quite as high as I had expected.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Not very involved or present.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

All study abroad students lived together with few Oxford students, which made it harder to meet people other than the ones already in my program. Plus, it was a little far from the actual college and the city centre.

* Food:

Dining hall food was not very good, but english food is not very good in general. However, there are some very good ethnic food options available around town.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I didn't feel very integrated, but that's probably because most of my friends were other study abroad students.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't have any experience with healthcare, but friends of mine did and said it was very good.

* Safety:

Oxford is small and very safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

England is very expensive.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Not sure.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? -

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
