China is not a good place for accommodating dietary restrictions, but the food is really cheap. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
A two-week long field trip that allows you to experience things you otherwise wouldn't be able to without the program. And local excursions throughout the city with teachers that really know what they are talking about and are excellent tour guides. |

Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | ~$20-30/week on food. I think this is a pretty general cost. It can be a lot less if you are frugal. This includes noodles, soups, rice, and really filling meals on campus and at local restaurants. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Besides initial expenses upon arrival (for your cell phone, towel & toiletries, etc) the only other major expense is paying for your cell phone minutes recharge card. |

Practiced language with my roommate. I did use the host country language every day. Most classmates spoke English. |
