Internships in Barcelona
It was the best decision I've ever made. I have always lived internationally; I'm from Nigeria, but I am now even more culturally-aware, it re-directed my career interests in a positive direction and now I'm sure of exactly what I want to do in the future, I had an incredible amount of fun, the other participants were all from different places and incredible, and I am going back this summer!

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
N/A But I learned a lot from my internship |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Our country program administration was from the United States and they took care of us really well, showed us around the country, we were pretty small but I loved it. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Great apartments and we were provided with nice hotels during our excursions. |
* Food: |
We bought our own food for the program, so I ate what I wanted. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
It is an amazing city, so many beautiful things. Park Guell, Cathedral Gaudi, the port, Dia de San Juan the festivals. I also loved the excursions to Pamplona, LogroƱo, and Costa Brava they were life-changing. The program made sure we saw all of this and more. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
A lot of people got pick-pocketed so you just have to be aware of your surroundings and not act/look too tourist-y. I got injured and they took good care of me at the hospital, but they wouldn't take my American healthcare so it was extremely expensive! |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|

I interned over the summer and my company was Spanish-speaking so I spoke with my bosses and co-workers every day and my Spanish improved greatly. |

A Look Back
* What did you like most about the program? |
|
* What could be improved? |

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | After coming back from the program, I was so appreciative of all of the things I learned from it from how to be professional and successful in my career field, to living in a new country, learning the language, being open to experience new things every day, and making new friends. The program gives the perfect balance; you are allowed to be an adult, but they always have directors around when you want to ask for guidance. I loved the program so much that I became a campus ambassador at GWU and because of my dedication and hard work, I will be a Program Director for the Paris program this summer! Anyone and everyone should go on this program because no matter who you are, or your background, the experiences will help you grow into an open and well-rounded person. |
