Study Abroad and Internship Programs in Paris

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, it was definitely worthwhile, I gained a newfound appreciation for the U.S. and New Mexico. As well as for my family and all of the daily luxuries that I take for granted as an American citizen. I also learned so much about my own ability to be independent and self-reliant in new and unfamiliar situations.

Personal Information

The term and year this program took place: Summer 2009

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I loved the facility, the professors, and most of my classes.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was very helpful and friendly. They were constantly available to answer any questions that come up while I was in Paris.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I would suggest setting a budget but also one that can be adjusted when one arrives in their specific country. If you are going to buy presents for friends and families do it as you go, don't wait until the last week to spend all of your money. Also allow extra money for travel opportunities that may come up while you are abroad, such as excursions.

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I went to Paris knowing very little and I left feeling very confident in my ability to understand the language being spoken around me. I do not speak as well as I would like, yet I believe that is due to my lack of self-confidence in the way I sound speaking French.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Go with an open-mind and an excited attitude and you will have the time of your life.
