Living and Learning: My 4-Week Spanish Course Experience June 13, 2025
By Hyejung K (Spanish, Seoul National University) - abroad from 05/05/2025 to 06/03/2025 with
BLAU Student Housing Language Academy
I came for the Spanish, stayed for the sunsets, and left with new friends, abs (thanks gym!), and a serious addiction to tortilla. Totally worth it. 😎🇪🇸

Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. | fun, engaging, kind people |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program | really nice building. it was new and had everything student needs:) |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | clean!! gym and swimming pool rooftop was the best! |
| * Food: | I had a private kitchen, so I could eat whatever I wanted! Plus, there was a big supermarket right next door, which made grocery shopping super convenient. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? | There were so many events during my stay! The sunset pool party was definitely the most memorable, and the social evning gatherings were such a lovely way to connect with students from all over the world. I also loved the free movie nights on Wednesdays with snacks — such a cozy midweek treat. I'm really going to miss it all 😢 |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? | Thankfully, I didn’t get sick at all — maybe because I worked out regularly at the gym! 😄 The gym was amazing, honestly. I still can’t believe access to such a great facility was free! |
| * Safety: | I never felt unsafe in the area around the residence. There was always someone at the reception 24/7, and having multiple security cameras inside the building made me feel even more secure. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes Because I honestly don’t think there’s any other language school in the world that has yoga classes, a gym, *and* a swimming pool — only Blau does! 😄 |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) | I had a private kitchen in my room, so I was able to save a lot on food expenses! There was a great gym inside the residence, so I didn’t need to get a separate gym membership — definitely saved me some money! 💪 |
