I became much more comfortable speaking Spanish because I was able to speak not only in class but also in the dorm with Spanish students. It was definitely a worthwhile experience that I would recommend to anyone that wants to challenge themselves and have a high level of immersion while abroad. About
Burgos, two hours north of Madrid, is known as a center of Spanish tradition. Home to one of Europe’s most beautiful Gothic cathedrals, it was also an important way station on the Camino de Santiago, and is famous in literature as the birthplace of El Cid. Burgos retains many of the customs of provincial Spanish life to this day.
Because of the Spanish academic calendar, the Burgos program is available only as a spring semester program.
Immersion. That’s what you get on our Burgos program. It’s a beautiful, tranquil, historic city that the “outside world” hasn’t really discovered yet. Indeed, Spanish is pretty much the only language you’ll hear, both in and out of the classroom.
The program offers a full range of courses through the Universidad de Burgos. Students say one of their favorite classes is Intercultural Education because it allows them to interact with Spaniards and see the world through their eyes.
