Dublin Internship Program - BU Past Review
By A student (Health Sciences General, Brandeis University) - abroad from 06/05/2019 to 08/03/2019 with
Boston University: Dublin - Internship Program, Summer
I learned a lot about myself, professional skills, and other life long skills. It was completely worthwhile and I would recommend going abroad to anyone and everyone who has thought about going.
Personal Information
| How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. | The course that I took (Contemporary Irish Society) was very well done and I learned so much from it. The only thing that was a bit sad was that not all of the guest lecturers were organised or fully engaging. |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program | The program director, Mary, is the sweetest person ever and was extremely helpful if you ever had a question. |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | The place was very clean and we were provided with basic cooking items needed (ie. pots, pan, utensils). |
| * Food: | I loved the food, I thought that it was reasonably priced for going out or for buying groceries. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
 |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
 |
| * Safety: | Overall the city of Dublin felt very safe. I would advise taking all the necessary precautions that were advised during all of the orientations. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes I absolutely loved the program and the city. I would come back in a heartbeat and do it all over again! |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) | I was absolutely able to live on a student's budget between food and personal expenses. |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $60 |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | I personally did not listen to the program's packing list and brought my own toiletries and I feel that saved me a few bucks. Definitely prepare your own food when you can and have the time too! It saved me a lot of money eating meals at home and taking lunch to my internship! |
Language
