Boston University: Dublin - Internship Program, Summer

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about Ireland through courses and museums, I was able to experience a different culture which was fun. I also was able to fulfill some requirements for my university.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

All the professors were really good at the subjects they were teaching along with being good lecturers. Work was not overwhelming but did include some more intense assignments.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were very helpful and kind.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was alright, a few issues but not many.

* Food:

Food is what you make of it

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It was very easy to learn and fall into the local culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't have any issues of my own but a few people got sick on the trip and were helped quickly.

* Safety:

Dublin is safe for the most part but like any city you have to be mindful of those who are around you. A few people on the trip got pickpocketed. Make sure if you are going out late to stay with a group there is safety in numbers while staying out late.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I loved my experience and would not change the experience I had.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It is expensive especially if you are traveling or want to go out. Groceries are not as expensive but often you are going to want to go out to dinner or experience the night life which can be expensive. Traveling to your internship adds up to be quite a large sum each week.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? about $150

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
