Summer Internship in Dublin - A mad bit of craic in Ireland Past Review
By Kathleen D (Psychology, Elmira College) for
Boston University: Dublin - Internship Program
Yes, I met a lot of great people. I learned a lot about the culture, as well as about the place in which I interned. I also got to see a good part of the country, and definitely want to go back.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I was in an internship, I did not take any classes. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The program was good at preparing me for life in another country. I felt well received by the EUSA faculty that picked us up from the airport, and gave us a bit of an orientation. The only weakness is that I did not end up in a career related internship like I had hoped. The experience was great, but not related to the field that I want to go into. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
There were some problems with roommates when I first moved into the apartment, but the problems resolved. |
* Food: |
The food was not much different from the food that we eat hear in the States, although living in the city was expensive. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Traveling to Galway was fun, I went with a group of friends and we met a group of Irish people there and hung out with them for the night at a pub. It was a mad bit of craic! |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
There was one time when guys from our program got into a fight with two Irish boys. I am not sure exactly what sparked it but I know that one of the kids from our program was sent to the hospital, |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
