Boston University: London - Internship Program, Summer

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
People are amazing. I met people from all walks of live and it was so incredible. It was definitely worthwhile and I wish I could do it all over again!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were a little easy but it was summer so it was perfect. I really enjoyed how they tried to make things more engaging with the guest speakers and field trips they chose

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

A little disorganized at times and the info from them was scarce but we figured it out.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Amazing! You cannot ask for a better location than South Kensington right in the central London.

* Food:

We had our own kitchens, and cooking was encouraged! I liked that a lot! It was also the place where the TV was so it was a very social place!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We were really encouraged to get out and spend time with the people and places of London. I felt like I saw a lot and spent time with a good number or British people. The night life is amazing!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

It was accessible if we needed it but I never did. It was really expensive though.

* Safety:

We had a security guard at our rooms around the clock. I felt very safe!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is really expensive! I was spending about 150 pounds (240 USD) every week on groceries, social activities, postage, etc. It can be done for cheaper but I spent a lot.

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 240 USD
