Boston University: London - London Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I enjoyed the internship aspect of the program and some of the classes. I am glad that I was able to experience British culture and live in the heart of Kensington.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Enjoyable internship program. 4 hour classes 4 times a week. Very strict attendance policy and very little time off.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Helpful administration

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Liked my room. Kitchens were very frequently messy, despite cleaning staff's constant cleaning. Students creating the messes were not warned, despite signage indicating this would happen.

* Food:

N / A ?

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Very little interaction with British students outside of the internship.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Program was very helpful in assisting me with making up work after some health issues.

* Safety:

Kensington area was very safe, but 24-hour security surveillance was a bit much.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I enjoyed London a lot, as well as most of the people on the program. I wish the classes and internship were structured to allow me more time to explore, given I was often in academic commitments until the evening during the week.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not very easy, London food and drink was very expensive.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $250

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
