Boston University: London - London Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about myself and I found many new interests. I also think experiencing new cultures and being able to travel around Europe meeting all kinds of new people has helped me become more cultured and well rounded.

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I felt like there was a good amount of academic rigor and amount of work to where we were learning many things in the classroom and getting a lot out of the experience as well as having time to go out and explore.

* Host Country Program Administration

I felt like the host country program administration was not great at communicating at times about the housing situation that had arisen.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The living arrangements were not what I expected because we were being told that we would live in Kensington, but then were placed in student housing on Holloway Road. The area and housing was not great, but I still enjoyed my experience and it was nice to see a real London town.

* Food:

I enjoyed the food that I had throughout my trip.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I did not expect the culture to be as different as it was but I feel like I became accustomed to it and having an internship there and being in an office helped me integrate.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt pretty safe being in London and never had any issues.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I really enjoyed the program and how there was an internship incorporated into the course. I also loved being in London and all the new people I met.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London was very expensive and I think it may have been hard on a student's budget, but I was lucky enough where my parents gave me lots of extra spending money so I had no problems.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew how expensive the tube would be and that I would have to use it to get to class everyday.
