Boston University: Sydney - Sydney Internship Program
My experience abroad taught me that there is so much life, culture, and beauty that this world has to offer. I am so grateful to be a part of its growth and will take every chance I get to live it up.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
most education I for was form living in a different culture/country. The resources were all easily available, but the students and teachers did not take the courses so seriously..or at least, did not treat the assignments super seriously, it was relaxed. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
very attentive, prompt, nice. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
beautiful new dorms, spacious, windows, great roommates. |
* Food: |
nearby groceries, a bit expensive but has everything. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
very. I had a group of girls I know from Sydney, went to my best friend about every other weekend, so got integrated by visiting her family. Otherwise, I am not so interested in night life so didn't meet anyone going out reality, but the locals are sweet. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
N/A thank G-d. |
* Safety: |
Security guard always there, felt protected and safe. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
2.5..this city is expensive. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | about $100 |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |

A Look Back
* What did you like most about the program? |
|
* What could be improved? |
|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | That there is not much time at the end of the program to travel and take it the last bits of Sydney because of the internship. Also, my internship was very expensive and most peoples are a block away. If I knew had to save up $400 for travel and no one else had to spend this, I would have objected. |
Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
