Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

This wasn't an academically challenging course, but it did take a lot of work and was very rewarding.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Super well organized. Lots of time to meet the people we worked with and lots of time to work on our projects.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We stayed in really nice hotels ever where we went.

* Food:

I got sick of the typical Peruvian diet of rice, potatoes and chicken. But food is generally pretty safe there and I only got a little bit sick one time.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We stood out quite a bit so it was hard to get a real feel for what life is like there, but we did get to see a lot of things that tourists never would have seen.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't have any experiences with this, but pharmacies are every where and there were good doctors in each of the places we went.

* Safety:

I only ever felt unsafe at night on the streets. But our hotel was very secure and we didn't have anything from our group get stolen or anything.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

You have to eat out for every meal which is pricey, but those meals can be really cheap depending on where you go.

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 80
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? There is a place in Puno called La Terraza. They cook different food every day and its only about $1.50 a meal. Its really delicious and clean and you get a new experience every time.
