Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
This wasn't an academically challenging course, but it did take a lot of work and was very rewarding. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Super well organized. Lots of time to meet the people we worked with and lots of time to work on our projects. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
We stayed in really nice hotels ever where we went. |
* Food: |
I got sick of the typical Peruvian diet of rice, potatoes and chicken. But food is generally pretty safe there and I only got a little bit sick one time. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We stood out quite a bit so it was hard to get a real feel for what life is like there, but we did get to see a lot of things that tourists never would have seen. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I didn't have any experiences with this, but pharmacies are every where and there were good doctors in each of the places we went. |
* Safety: |
I only ever felt unsafe at night on the streets. But our hotel was very secure and we didn't have anything from our group get stolen or anything. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
You have to eat out for every meal which is pricey, but those meals can be really cheap depending on where you go. |
* Was housing included in your program cost? | Yes |
* Was food included in your program cost? | No |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 80 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | There is a place in Puno called La Terraza. They cook different food every day and its only about $1.50 a meal. Its really delicious and clean and you get a new experience every time. |
