Study Abroad Programs in London

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to budget money better. I also learned to respect other cultures more. I also learned that criminal justice is a very interesting topic and I would have never even taken a criminal justice class if it were not for this program.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was a decent amount of work but a great experience. We learned about various things in class then got to take tours and experience them first hand.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I loved everything about this program and I think they did an excellent job. The only suggestion I'd make would be for the AIFS student lab to extend its hours so that we had more time to get work done on the computers.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Food is very expensive so budget well

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The tour of Parliament and the Supreme Court

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe in London compared to home. Police were everywhere. I did not have an experience with healthcare

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $200-$300
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Try not to eat out every single meal because it will start to add up. Maybe buy some groceries to cook in your flat a few times so you don't spend as much money.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Crime and Punishment

Course Department: CRMJ370
Instructor: Dr. Manasee
Instruction Language: English
Comments: It was challenging but very interesting. Dr. Manasse knew so much about the criminal justice system in the US and the UK and helped us understand the differences. I participated much more in this class than I do in my normal courses at Towson.
Credit Transfer Issues: No
