London was absolutely amazing - UD Visual Communications Past Review
By Kate R (Visual Communications, University of Delaware) for
Study Abroad Programs in London
It was for my major, so yes of course it was worthwhile. My major consists of 38 people, so I knew everyone going into it, but we got so much closer.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
As a visual communications major, I was thrilled not to be cooped up in a classroom. Instead, we went to various museums and galleries. Almost every day we had a visit scheduled with prestigious creatives that work with some of the top advertising companies. It was an amazing experience and we learned a tremendous amount. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
We did not have a specific foreign teacher, but we treated all of our visits with agencies as class time and every person we met with was exceptional. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The location was the best part, we were right next to Russel Square. The flat was nice, but some things didn't work too well. We did need to buy some things, but most essentials were provided. We were within walking distance to a lot of nightlife. |
* Food: |
The food was expensive, but good. We tried to cook for ourselves to save money. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
London isn't much different than America, so there wasn't much of a culture shock. Just like any city, there is so much to do and so much to see. People say the London eye is overrated, which I agree, but its something you have to do. You will never see a Ferris wheel that big anywhere else. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
London was a safe place and it wasn't hard to eat healthy, especially when you are walking everywhere. The markets were the best place to find fresh food. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
