Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Again, the program was very independent but I liked that. I knew that if I needed someone for help I knew who to call that was in charge and the lady in charge, Andrea did site visits and checked in on us a lot.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The man in charge of the building of the flat was horrible. We had bed bugs, no hot water for a while and he was not around a lot, so our program had to step in and help a lot. Otherwise it was fine, living space was alright we could cook and clean for ourselves it was fine, just what living on your own for the first time should be.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I got caught in the London student riots, and since 4 inches of snow covered London on my way trying to get home I got trapped in the city for an extra 4 days, that was interesting.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I tried to take out about 100 pounds a week, sometimes I would not use it all sometimes I would and that was for food and toping up my phone and public transportation cards. I traveled pretty cheaply, there are very cheap airlines they just have flights at horrible times but it saves a lot of money. For our ten day fall break we took 4 flights over Italy and Greece and it cost us a total of 140 pounds for flights. Hostels you can get at about 15-20 pounds a night.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I think I was well equipped.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Wisdom, don't tell yourself you can't do it. I hate change and struggled in the beginning but it was the best thing I've ever done. It was so rewarding!
