I learned so much about England and gained a love for all of it's history and culture. You also learn a lot about yourself when you are isolated in a foreign country with students who you don't know very well. I highly recommend having this experience!

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The London center was being remodeled so we were living in flats. It was hard to connect with people in the group, but the flats were very nice. |

We made our own food, but when we did go out to eat there were some great restaurants! If you're looking for "traditional" British food go to the pubs or fish and chips stands. |

How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We didn't talk to a lot of locals. The most interaction you get with local Londoners is tour guides and with the members of your ward. |

How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
There were not any major issues. A couple people were sick with colds, but they didn't require extra help. |

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
A lot of girls struggled with the budget because they were using their budget to buy clothes and souvenirs. I didn't do that. I used the money for food and transportation because that's what they gave it to us for. I had more than enough to cover my costs. I could use the tube and eat out as much as I wanted to and be fine. |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I can't give a weekly expense but I'd say it was somewhere around $50 a week (covering plays and souvenirs). |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Don't spend all your money shopping for clothes. You can do that in the US. If you spend money, spend it on things that you may never see again. That being said, a lot of the museums in London are free, so find out which ones are and go to them. |
