Oxford changed my life! Past Review

The Oxford program was inspiring. From the moment I arrived, I felt an energy within the group. Everyone had different passions and backgrounds, but we were all united in wanting to use our talents to change the world. But it wasn’t just the group; it was the place. There is a depth to Oxford that is hard to put into words. As we learned about its history and the many great discoveries and accomplishments that were made there, we couldn’t help but feel the potential within ourselves. Anything was possible. And so when we started our group projects, we were very excited. We had a lot of fun throwing around ideas about how we could create a social venture. It was hard and the problems were complex, but we struggled through and learned a lot. Did we solve the world’s problems overnight? No. But the excitement and hope I felt will always stay with me. It made me believe that problems could be solved with hard work, determination, and eager minds. I hope to maintain the friendships I made and keep making plans to change the world! Aside from our projects, we had many opportunities to hear inspiring words in areas such as philosophy, history, and religion. These lectures had just as much of an impact on me as those focused on entrepreneurship. They put into context the kind of leader and man I should be. They made me want to be more informed about the world, its history, and my own place in it. I felt that history and the humanities should never be separated from other realms of knowledge. They really do inspire the best in every field. Oxford taught me that there is much to be gained from interdisciplinary learning. If you continually surround yourself with those that think like you, you are never challenged to see another point of view. Life gradually becomes the same. But when I was surrounded by people outside of my discipline, I was constantly faced with new ideas and new ways to think about my own field of study. I wish that all university settings gave me such an opportunity to broaden my thinking.
