Brigham Young University: Traveling - China Dance Study Abroad
It was absolutely worthwhile. Very eye-opening! The perfect supplement to my dance studies at BYU.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Some of the students in my group complained that there was too much class and not enough play time, but I came on this study abroad to expand my knowledge and skills in dance, specifically in Chinese culture and styles. It was challenging and structured, but I loved it! I was very pleased with the amount of class and the intensity of our courses. The homework assigned was, in my opinion, reasonable and helpful. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Our BYU faculty program directors were absolutely amazing. Very thorough and sensitive to the needs of their students. They worked so hard to make sure that we had the best experience possible. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Very few complaints aside from slight sewage smell and mold. |
* Food: |
Absolutely wonderful! If you enjoy adventure and trying new things as far as food is concerned, this study abroad will give you plenty of opportunities to try new and amazing things! |

|
* Health Care:

|
* Safety: |
If you are smart and obey the rules you shouldn't have any problems! |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
This study abroad was very affordable in comparison to other BYU study abroad programs. The only way you could over-spend is if you chose to buy a ton of extra food or do a ton of shopping. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 20 |

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | The more personal preparation and research you do, the more fulfilling your experience will be. I would have studied more mandarin on my own if I could do it over. We didn't study any chinese on the study abroad and I wished that I could communicate better with the locals. |
