Our search for inspiration begins in Habana Viaje, where we’ll stroll along the Malecon’s scenic waterfront, wander among masterpieces housed in the Museo do Bellas Artes and marvel at spectacular examples of Spanish colonial architecture dating as far back as the 16th century. Then experience the island’s rich African and Hispanic music and dance roots with live rumba in the painted alley of Callejon de Hamel, a performance by the prestigious Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba and percussion and dance classes.

Mingle with local artists, volunteer at an urban farm, learn about agricultural traditions among the mountains and lush valleys of the island’s western countryside and share conversation with your hosts and neighbors at the casa particulares where you’ll be staying. Along the way, explore tools and techniques for gathering images and building cohesive narratives that tell the story of this incredible country from your unique point of view.
