Get ready to take your medical and Spanish skills to new heights, literally. In a village nestled in the heart of the Andes, gain practical medical knowledge you’ll put into practice the rest of your time in Ecuador. Learn general medical concepts and basic life support skills while earning your WFA certification. From the small mountain villages, it’s off to the Pacific coast where you’ll take small-group, level-appropriate courses in medical Spanish you’ll use volunteering at a nearby hospital, implementing public health programs and learning about the unique Ecuadorian health care system.

Venture to a medical clinic in the Amazon jungle where you’ll practice your Spanish and work alongside doctors and nurses in rotations including triage, pharmaceuticals and educational outreach. This isn’t your local hospital at home. This is a real-world, limited technology approach to healthcare that is the reality for so much of the world. It isn’t all work and no play, though. Take breaks in your medical and Spanish lessons to go on day hikes in the Cotopaxi mountains, surf the Pacific coastline, horseback ride along winding mountain trails and soak in the rich Ecuadorian culture.
