Broadreach: Program at Sea - Caribbean PADI Divemaster & Instructor
I learned more about the places I was visiting and diving through my experiences with the locals. Overall, the Broadreach PADI Divemaster course was definitely worthwhile.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The PADI Divemaster program, in itself, is a rigorous and rewarding course that transitions the experienced diver into the realm of professional diving. Broadreach takes the traditional method of pool lessons and study of theory and turned it into a completely hands-on course where you are surrounded by young divers eager to learn from your experience, and many skippers and dive instructors with years of experience willing to mentor you throughout the program. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Living on a boat is always fun. You get to know everyone better than you would on any other program offered by other companies. |
* Food: |
The food situation depends on whether you are able to cook with limited supplies. I have had great meals, and I have had some mediocre ones. If you don't know how to cook, you'll learn fast! |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Spending time on several of the islands you visit allows you to learn more about the culture than can be taught in a tour guide. The locals are friendly and inviting, and you'll always leave with a good story to reflect back on once you return to the boat. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Broadreach ensires that every participant on their programs is always safe. As a Divemaster, you also are given some responsibility in which you also make sure the participants on your boat are staying safe. While there is never a situation where you are needed to act, knowing you are a part of the safety on the boat is always reassuring. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Broadreach provides enough food on the boats to last for longer than the actually trip. the only real need for money is on the islands, where you may decide to go get lunch at a local restaurant or possibly pick up some gifts. |
* Was housing included in your program cost? | Yes |
* Was food included in your program cost? | Yes |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Less than $100 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Split your money between the three weeks evenly. |
