Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | None |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I did not learn and was not evaluated properly. The school course setup was very difficult. I would have a class once a day then not for a month. I hated this aspect of my education experience. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The administration abroad lacked know how and will to assist with the exception with one of two faculty members. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I often did have electricity. There was a pervert living next to me. He peeked in on someone during a shower and management would not do anything until both schools were involved. |
* Food: |
The French dining experience is like none other. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Many people hated me because I was American and others loved me for it. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I was informed by my home university what, how, and where to gain assistant for medical issues. |
* Safety: |
I felt very safe for the majority of the time. Only a few cases were not so great. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I would chose reciprocal exchange but I would not study again at Burgundy School of Business. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
with the right planning and budgeting, my costs where the same as they were back home. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Travel and food usually costs roughly $200 a week. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | I would say have one nice meal in each new city, not several. Book ahead of time and have everything planned before you go on a trip and you will save up to 50% easily. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
My French language course was quite interactive. |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Beginner |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | Only independent studies |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | listening and listening hard. The most difficult part of any language is the accent pronunciation. |
