How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Grading methods are terrible. A 14 out of 20 is considered good, but 10 is terrible. Not much wiggle room. Most assignments are group based, but finals are book based. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Staff was hard to deal with. As students without any knowledge of customs of France, we needed someone to help us through the transition. Staff wasn't helpful at that and didn't seem to have anyone to help internationals. Staff was hard to deal with on matters that involved any questions they didn't know off hand. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Lived in perfect location at Residance Imagine. Lived with another girl from OSU felt slightly isolated. Wished I would have lived in Tremouille. Terrible bathrooms but friends loved living in the more community feeling setting. |
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
School had great activities on weeknights for students to attend. 1 ok trip in the beginning then the school offered other trips throughout the semester. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Dijon is a relatively safe city during the day, but I wouldn't walk around by myself at night. Other students did and were fine but it always felt safer to have a buddy when French men yell things at you in another language. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Try and make friends with French students. They stick to themselves unless you make them get to know you. Dijon is a great place to travel from so make the most of it. A person who can handle things going wrong and has patience. Be very adventurous but know how to be calm and act polite. |
