About

Students from California State University - San Bernardino studied abroad in Tokyo and Kyoto, diving into themes of equality, identity and cultural comparatives as part of a faculty-led social sciences program.
Led by Professors Carolyn McAllister and Kurt Manio, this immersive experience blends academic exploration with cultural discovery.

Highlights of the trip include:

A visit to the Japan College of Social Work
Cultural exploration at Sanjusangendo Temple and Tenryu-ji
A hands-on Zen meditation experience
Traditional Japanese cooking classes and immersion with traditions in Gion

This transformative journey gives CSU – San Bernardino students the chance to connect and explore current global issues with their own academic and personal development.
